HERE’S THE GRAM STAIN YOU ORDERED FOR STUDY

ͽ°
Clinical Specimen of lung

A = Gram + diplococcus

B = Gram + coccus

C = Tissue cell

D = Tissue fiber

Can you find other diplococcal forms in this slide? How might a diplococcus look like a single coccus (labeled B in this slide)? When you look at a clinical specimen for bacteria, think small!! Look for the little dots or rods. Then look closer and see if you can determine the primary cell morphology: are they primarily singles, doubles, in chains?
